Masca is a little village, hidden in a deep valley in the heart of the Teno Mountains. This is one of the oldest parts of the island, and over time the weather has sculpted a dramatic environment.

The fact that the winding, steep road that leads to Masca has only been opened since 1980, has allowed the village to keep much of its authenticity. There where  people not so long ago hardly survived because there was nothing more than basic agriculture for them, the visitor can nowadays enjoy a freshening drink, and a bite to eat with spectacular panoramic views. Some say that the path in the gorge where hikers enjoy there walks, has been used by the pirates to hide out in the village.
