The Roque del Conde (Rock of the Count), the typical mountain of the south of Tenerife is an ancient volcano, situated on the border of Adeje and Arona. The fact that his top is a basaltic layer makes him look like the South-African Table Mountain.
This is a hike that will offer us panoramic views over the main part of South Tenerife. From the Red Mountain of El Medano, over Los Cristianos and Las Americas, until the cliffs of Los Gigantes, whole the coast can be seen. On the other side, we can see the border of the National Park.
The walk starts in the ancient center of Arona, An agricultural village, 600m above sea-level. During the first part we discover some particularities of this part of the south, before we leave civilisation. We will cross tree slopes before we start the climb to the top. The third slope, the deepest is the border between Arona and Adeje. Passing an abandoned farm, we discover a path which characteristics can make us imagine the live conditions in this arid area.
After 400m ascent, we reach the top, a plane area at 1001m, and with breath-taking views all around. While we go down over the same path, we get completely different impressions.
